The Exchange Club of the San Ramon Valley is proud to announce its 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony observing 25 years since the terrorist attacks on the United States.

OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKER: US Marine Corps Col. Chris Starling, Retired

Colonel Starling served 26 years in the infantry, including as commanding officer of his Battalion Landing Team in the Persian Gulf. His assignments included ten overseas deployments requiring three combat tours in Desert Shield, Desert Storm, and Iraqi Freedom. He subsequently led the U.S. Pacific Commands Counter Drug Agency Task Force in Alameda as well as serving as asst. professor of Military Science at West Point, Command Chief at U.S. Africa Stuttgart, and senior military advisor to the Emirati Presidential Guard in Abu Dhabi.

Returning home, Col. Starling was honored to serve three years on the Hoover Institution Veteran Fellowship Program in Stanford, where his published research focused on national security affairs. For the past decade, Col Starling focused his service on launching over 500 active-duty service members into cyber security careers nationwide.

We are grateful to have Col Starling share his experiences related to the attacks on September 11, 2001 a day in which he was an instructor in the West Point military academy during the nearby attacks on the World Trade Towers and Pentagon.

Col Starling (Ret.) holds a BA from the Virginia Military Institute and Masters of Public
Administration John Jay College (NY).
